Lumière — A Community Helping Those in Need

In America, and throughout the world, times are changing — and not always for the better. Recently, we have seen a steep rise in loneliness, depression, and suicide — both in individuals and in families. Why? Stark statistics give us the background:

• One out of every four Americans (25%) say they have ZERO friends to confide in; this number has tripled in the past 30 years.

• One out of every three Americans (33%) over the age of 65 is socially isolated.

• One out of every two Americans (50%) over the age of 85 is socially isolated.

“To be human is to belong.
We were literally born in community,
attached to someone else.”

— Radha Agrawal

Lumiere intends to be part of the solution.
Of course, we can’t solve all problems, but we can do our part.

So, what exactly is “our part”?

For Lumière, it starts with building Community —  positive, constructive, inspiring community — in our families, in our workplaces, in our communities. In our Global Community of Light, our main focus is helping disadvantaged children (education), families (sustainable environment), and veterans (homeless, jobless, PTSD).

Who will help them?

Lumière’s community of caring and compassion! Our Lumière Community of Light — a “family of families” — is a community of common values. We call these values our Lumiere Compass:

• Compassion
• Caring
• Community
• Collaboration
• Communication
• Contribution
• Commitment

These solid Core Values guide our worldwide community — and are expressed concretely in practical action for the benefit of those who are in need.

“Yesterday is gone;
Tomorrow has not yet come;
We have only today.
Let us begin.”

— Mother Teresa
